For over 17 years, Dr. Eduardo Barroso has provided the highest quality of Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery to his patients locally, nationally and internationally. Dr. Barroso is fluent in English and Spanish and attracts patients from around the world including Europe, Asia, Middle East, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. He has lectured in North, South, and Central America on topics related to plastic and reconstructive surgery and has participated in charitable operations and missions in Central America and the Caribbean. Dr. Barroso is also licensed in the Cayman Islands where he has established a secondary practice. He visits the Cayman Islands on a monthly basis where he offers consultations and performs reconstructive surgery. He is presently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Florida International University College of Medicine where he is involved in the training medical students.

Education and Training

Dr. Barroso earned his Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts and Sciences from the University of Miami in 1984 graduating with the highest honor of Summa Cum Laude. He obtained his Doctorate Degree in Medicine at the University of Miami in 1988 and then completed a five year General Surgery training program at Rush Presbyterian / St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago in 1993 earning his first board certification in General Surgery. He followed his General Surgery training with a three year fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago in 1996, thus earning his second board certification in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Barroso is part of an exclusive group of plastic surgeons who hold board certifications in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. The completion of two training programs and dual board certification gives Dr. Barroso the fund of knowledge to address from the simplest to the most complex and challenging problems in plastic surgery.

Experience

Dr. Barroso has been featured locally, nationally, and internationally in radio programs, newspaper articles, magazine interviews, and television programs for his work in cosmetic surgery. Dr. Barroso is a member of and past president of the Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons, (MSPS), member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Florida Society of Plastic Surgery (FSPS), and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is the founder and Medical Director of South Miami Surgery Center, a specialized surgical facility dedicated to plastic surgery.
